This section of the website is aimed at providing you with all the useful info and practical information to help your stay run as smoothly as possible.

Laundry

Fresh bedding, towels and tea towels a provided for the duration of your stay. A washer and dryer are also available in the utility room. Clothes can also be dried on the hanging airer or there is a foldable airer in the utility room cupboard.

Garden

The gardens at both farmhouse and cottage are tended and cared for by Peter (the gardener) every Saturday. You are welcome to use the gardens and the furniture, but please make sure you clean and tidy away any furniture or equipment you use, ready for the next guests to enjoy.

The farmhouse has an outside store for bikes, which also contains a selection of garden games for you to enjoy... Swingball, Jenga, Dominoes and lots more!

Keys

When you arrive you will collect the keys to the property from the key safe, using the key code provided by Sykes Cottages. For the cottage, this is all the keys you will need for your stay.

For the farmhouse, the remainder of the keys for the property are located in the utility room behind the door from the kitchen. All keys are labelled, please return after use.

Heating & Electrics

Both properties are serviced by oil central heating. In the cottage, the temperature can be controlled by the remote thermostat in the kitchen. In the farmhouse, please only control the heating using the thermostat under the stairs.

If there is a power cut or an issues or the electricity trips, the fuse box for the cottage is located in the under-stairs cupboard in the kitchen and in the farmhouse it it in the locked store room in the utility. The key for the store room will be hung on the door frame.

Recycling

Every area of the UK seems to have a different waste collection and recycling process and Northumberland is no different! Please make sure you follow the guidance opposite, for more information please visit nland.uk/recycle

WiFi

Superfast broadband is available in both properties and the WiFi codes are shown on the rear of each router in both property lounges.

Shopping

Humshaugh has a small village shop, which is generally open in the mornings selling newspapers, local produce and the usual corner shop groceries.

Opening Times

​

The nearest main shopping centre with supermarkets such as Tescos, M&S and Waitrose is in Hexham (15 mins drive). However, you can book an online delivery from these supermarkets before you arrive. 

​

If you wish to have a day out shopping Newcastle City Centre and the Metrocentre are only 25 minutes drive away. Also, Morpeth is a lovely little market town with lots of independent shops to potter round.
