About East Farm

You will notice in both the farmhouse and cottage at East Farm that there are historical photos of both the farm land, yards and our family. Lois' grandfather bought East Farm at the end of World War II and farmed the land at both East Farm and Dunkirk (across the other side of the North Tyne) until he was 86 years old.

The photograph shown here is of Lois' grandparents which appeared in the Newcastle journal, due to the ewe having a record breaking quintuplets!

East Farm itself was unused for many years due to the main farmyard being sited across the river at Dunkirk. It wasn't until the late 1990s that Lois' parents, Charles & Gwen, renovated both properties back to their former glory. There is a photo book in East Farm House that shows the major renovation work that took place to create the properties you see today.
